Magnum Vs. Dilly Bar.

...and YES it is officially Summer. So what cools you down when the heat is pouring across the town? As for me I must grab some dainty ice cream at the nearby convenient store.
(and for me that is ministop)

So I biked my way my way to Ministop to get a hold of the latest fab Magnum and I am not surprised that It was out of stock, because I think everyone is so curious about it.

(so to disregard the heat I have my sounds with me)

So I bought a different cold snacks to end my frustration. Suddenly on my way home Something popped in my head. I remembered that I have to blog about Magnum and its Dairy Queen counterpart, Dilly Bar, since I had that last week.

Okay let us compare.
(This applies to classic flavor)

(For the Health Conscious)

(For the Budget People. The Price is applicable in Philippine Peso)

(Appearance Matters)

The Taste Test

(As my taste buds tell me)

Chocolate Coating
Magnum's coating is so creamy and add to the fact it is Belgian chocolate. The feeling of savoring  it every second matters to me. As some people call it 'heaven' and for me it is near to that.

Dilly bar's coating tastes like their ordinary coating in their dipped ice cream cone and as I try to check what is something different on it over the net. Well I didn't get some leads. So maybe my assumption is right, or it can be no, but it really tastes like Dairy Queen's ordinary coating. The coating lacks the experience for the layer is so thin that it breaks easily.

Vanilla Ice cream Inside.

Magnum and Dilly bar par to this portion. I do not have to argue to their version on this one. Both brand excel on this part.

Wanna hear my verdict?

I'd rather buy these:

Well  Cornetto is easy to find everywhere. If you want to ask me taste wise, this will give you more satisfaction and the value of money. Imagine 25-26 Pesos each. That is way cheaper ;)

P.S.

Sorry for not giving the final judgement for I really am not an expert to give proper comment.
So I'll ask you Dilly Bar or Magnum?
You Judge.

  2. I never understood the fascination with Magnum. Just one of those pricey treats. Out of curiousity - OO. I can consider that, peru, PICTURES around Facebook? geez. Anywei, Cornetto, Rocky Road Sundae Jollibee, Any Strawberry ice cream. Kanya-kanyang preference parin. But Id rather pay less for a treat kasi it makes the experience worthwhile. hahahaah. Maybe Ill try Magnum but I doubt if Ill enjoy it. Unless magkaStrawberry coating. hahahaha. And totally agree with your verdict (cornetto). Still the best.

  5. mcdo's sundae ftw! and you know that i rarely eat sweets, lol. magnum is overrated (everyone's doing their own version of solenn or ruffa g. thing) id rather buy a large mcdo fries and dip it in my sundae while smoking ala alvin. oha! see you next week nyora.

  6. I'm making ice creams couple of months ago. What makes it very expensive I guess the outer coating of it. It is a pure white chocolate, but the thing here is the satisfaction of the diners. I rather eat cornetto ice cream or DQ's Mud Pie or any dairy ice cream from DQ's. It's more presentable and very handy to eat. Unlike MAGNUM ICE CREAM nothing special to eat. It reminds me of eating an ordinary pinipig crunch anywhere in the street. If they only sell this around 20-25 php fair enough. GoodLuck ALVIN! intindihin mo n lng sinabi ko LOL

  7. Magnum is super hyped and out of stock almost everywhere. I do understand that Selecta aims to bring imported ice cream brands to the local market, but I agree that Cornetto still has the edge--price-wise and taste-wise. You never have to break your piggy bank or search everywhere for a Cornetto. Thing is, sa panahon ngayon, dapat practical tayo. So Cornetto pa din :D
